Juventus continued their winless start to the new Serie A season on Saturday night as they suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
The game started with the Neapolitans starting the ball, but they fell behind in the 11th minute when Alvaro Morata stole possession from Kostas Manolas, raced into the goal box and calmly fired the ball beyond David Ospina’s defensive capabilities.
Both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances for the remainder of the second half, with Juve taking the lead at Napoli. But Napoli needed only 10 minutes in the second half to equalize, despite the help of Wojciech Szczesny. The Juve keeper ate Lorenzo Insigne ground ball shot and put it in the path of Matteo Politano, who calmly sent it home.
With five minutes left in the game, there was no peace at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium as Moises Keane missed a corner kick towards his own goal. Wojciech Szczesny brilliantly headed the ball away, but Kalidou Koulibaly’s timely follow-up shot into the net sent the home supporters into a frenzy. Napoli took all three points easily in the match and condemned Massimiliano Allegri to another defeat as Juve boss.
